Organize and the music will follow

Juggle!I’m in the midst of re-organizing my home studio. My home studio doesn’t consist of much, and has essentially been the same for several years - a Yamaha SY77 synth, a Dell PC, and whatever other old school sounds I can channel into my computer. However, I like to think that I get a lot of mileage out of the tools available to me.

You may have read that I’m currently working on some new music, a project tentatively titled Antarctica: The Last Continent. I was there this past January (Summertime there!), and I’m trying to express what I saw and how I felt musically. Sounds easy - just layer some synth pads, maybe some string accompaniment, etc….but I’ve found that my layout was no longer conducive to efficient composing. So, I’m cleaning things up a bit in the studio. It’s amazing what a little organization can do. :) Once you de-clutter your workspace, it’s a lot easier to get down to business - your mind de-clutters as well.

An initial post…

KevOzSo…I’m finally entering the world of blog. I plan to blog not only about my music, but about anything related to music (my thoughts on the independent music business, other music I enjoy, etc.) as well. And I’m sure I’ll have an occasional post that has nothing to do with music. Hey, I can blog about whatever I like, right?

For those of you who don’t know about me or my music, you should probably read my bio to get a little more background about me. In short, I’m an independent music artist who composes instrumental music - some of it is uptempo and very electronic-sounding, some of it is downtempo and chilled out, and some of it falls into the new age genre. I enjoy composing instrumental tracks because I’ve got the freedom to work with most any genre (plus, I can’t sing :) ). I’ve released 8 CDs at this point, and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I’ve even put out a couple holiday discs in recent years, which are great fun.

Well, that’s enough for an initial post. Feel free to check out the playlist to the right…and often as I might change it up from time to time. If you’d like to see/hear more about me, you can always go to my home away from home, http://www.kevoz.com/.
